DramaLlama

A stand-alone web/mobile application with a Netflix-like payment structure, created to allow users to watch unlimited Asian Dramas, search by Wiki, and discuss by forum.

I began this passion project when I quit my job in May 2017 to pursue UX full-time. It was a nerve-wracking month — sitting in my apartment trying to cram as much UX and graphic design knowledge into my head as possible, wondering if I had just shot myself in the foot in pursuit of an impossible dream. I did hope to make something with some worldly commentary, but I had little time so I turned to something I knew very well: Asian dramas and how hard it was to find a fast, legitimate source to watch. I hoped that it wouldn’t matter that I couldn’t finish as long as I could explain myself and a few low-fidelity mockups.

And now, 2 years later, it’s finally done. It’s not the prettiest baby but it’s mine.

As a former avid drama-watcher, it was difficult to figure out which dramas aired at which times on which days. Now I know that ‘Descendants of the Sun’ (my favorite drama of all time BTW) airs in Korea Wednesdays at 22:00 on KBS2 during the week of February 22, 2016.

Connected to the main site is a robust forum primarily for talking dramas but also for general topics, announcements, and help.

A thread automatically generates for each drama series on the site, and each new episode of a currently airing drama generates its own thread as well. The dedicated thread is linked on the episode watching page.
